Annotated Bibliography Reflection #1

My article was on the "Future of the Associates Degree in Nursing". Several hospitals have started to require that the nurses they hire have a bachelor’s degree and other hospitals will soon follow. Many New York lawmakers are in support of this and have requested the “BS in 10” law which if passed will require that if a nurse does not already have a bachelor in nursing they will be required to obtain it within 10 years. In contrast, due to the drastic nursing shortage, associate degree nurses are still needed in non-hospital settings.

My research question is, how can you become successful with a nursing degree? This article fits in my research because to become successful with a nursing degree you need the degree itself and knowing which one is best for your career interest, associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing, is essential. For example, if you earn an associates degree not knowing that a bachelor’s degree is starting to become a requirement for hospitals you then won’t be able to work in those hospitals. This source as very informative on my topic I learned a lot about the two degrees; why they are different, different opinions on the subject, and how they can be used.  Later when I’m researching the career options you have as a nurse I will know to look for the degree level required for that specific career.
