How has your perception of the internship/organization changed since you started the internship?
When I first started, I was under the impression that we would just be following our mentor around but my previous mentor allowed me to be very involved. She let me make phone calls to patients and other medical organization along with letting me visit some of the patients by myself.
What is surprising you about this internship?
What is surprising you about this internship?
How open the parents of the patients are, I assumed many of the them would not be willing to have a high school student observe their child's appointment but everyone was okay with me being present.
What have you learned from the routine or boring parts of the internship?
What have you learned from the routine or boring parts of the internship?
I have learned through this experience that being a nurse involves a lot of paperwork and phone calls. My mentor gave me many opportunities to talk on the phone with patients and medical organizations; CHOA, several pharmacies, patients, and other practice locations
