Interview With A Nurse

I interviewed a nurse from South Carolina. I asked her 10 questions about nursing.

Why did you choose nursing as a career?
"I chose nursing because there wasn't anything else at all I was interested in. Pretty much nursing was the only thing I'd thought I'd really like to do."
Where are you currently working?
"I am currently working at Greenville Memorial Hospital on Ortho Trauma."
Do you enjoy working there?
"Yes I like it. I like the people I work with. the are very easy to work with."
Is there a different department you hope to work in?
"I would like to do labor and delivery or Pediatrics but I don't hate my patients and I'm content where I am"
Have you worked or considered working in other environments?
"I've thought about working in a doctors office or other part of the hospital that is more 9-5 with weekends and holidays off. "
How many hours a week do you work?
"I work 36 hours a week. I have 3, 12 hour shifts."
What is your favorite part about nursing?
"My favorite part is having new patients every time I go into work for the most part It's always changing."
If you could go back to when you chose your major would you still pick nursing?
"Yes, I would still pick nursing as my major."
What is your least favorite part about nursing
"My least favorite part about nursing is being the middle man. Sometimes it's hard when you have a difficult patient but you can't actually change anything to make them happy. So as the middle man if the doctor doesn't change anything I have to deal with that patient still."
